Folks,
I looked over the empty ammo shelves at Walmart and then checked the book rack in the Sports section.
For pennies less than $18 US I got:

Gun Digest Book of the Tactical Rifle by Patrick Sweeny

Gun Digest Book of The AR-15 Volume 4 by Patrick Sweeny

Interesting Books, I learned some things.

I am saving for a new Carbine. The front runner is the SWaMPy 15 OR, with a Lucid HD7 G3 optic.

Product: Model M&P15OR Rifle

LUCID Red Dot Sights

They both look really nice, Geoff. I know that the M&P 15/22's I got for my grandsons are really well made guns. I can't imagine that their full sized versions would be anything less.

That LUCID red dot looks interesting. I haven't heard of them before, but they certainly look worth checking out.

Do you plan to get a set of BUIS for those "Aw Shoot" moments where you really need the sight but the batteries go dead?

I have both Sweeney books - highly recommended.

And these are my red dot of choice.

I've got a couple of cop friends that swear by them.

Catching the one you want in stock is the trick...

The red laser on Dzhokhar Tsarnaev's forehead looked pretty good. I want that one. (Or was this picture taken through a red dot sight?)

Geoff,
Just bought a S&W MP15 and its very sweet. Stuck a cheap Holographic sight on it last week and I'm anxious to go try it now. Seems like a well built rifle for the money..
