NOW, a valid AL CCW permit will suffice instead of an NICS background check! :D

"This week, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) published an open letter to Alabama Federal Firearm Licensees (FFLs) notifying them that, effective immediately, they may accept a valid Alabama concealed carry permit issued on or after August 1, 2013 in lieu of conducting a background check through the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS)."

That's the way it's been here in North Carolina for a while now. It's one of those rare government policies that demonstrates at least a modicum of common sense.
I knew other states had this; it makes me want to go and buy a gun just because... :p

Life Just Got Better for AL CCW--NCIS Exemption

Does Mark Harmon supervise the issuing of CCWs?

It's "NICS" not NCIS ..... although I really do enjoy the TV series! 8)

(An easy mistake to make .....I've done it too.)

It used to be that way in Oregon, but they changed it. I have permits from two states and a C&R FFL. I still have to do the background check unless I am buying a C&R.

I like that WV passed it; I love that they overrode the Governor's veto to do it. I really love that the 1st vote to override was the day after the veto, and the day after that it was completed.
