Episode Two a bust--Jurrasic Birds. Completely self-contained and advanced the plot on the Two Big Mysteries (the Sixers, and the strange writing) not one inch. If you missed it, you missed nothing.

Lame, and if they have too many more episodes in this vein, the show won't be on the air long. :(

It was, IMHO, a pretty interesting episode, well thought out in so far as why the pteradactyls were doing what they were.
It was positively Hitchcockian, in fact!:mrgreen::mrgreen::rolleyes::grin: :sm_angel: :santa:
Just what "plot" do you want advanced? The backstory about the sixers and all that? They're going to be playing those cards much closer to the vest.
I know Mesozoic birds aren't fascinating .... I'd like to see a few more of the larger Therapods myself.

I didn't think it was awful, but I mostly get put off by the obvious tactical miscues; for example resupplying the outposts at the most dangerous time (night) and using door less dune buggies for that purpose. I'm not sure exactly how much in the way of "supplies" they could have carried in that thing and I can't imagine using only a single vehicle in ***** territory with no back up. I'm surprised that there isn't an subterranean component to the colony, but perhaps we haven't seen it yet.

And I'm still waiting to see some bigger guns...

I like the show so far.... I Believe the symbols and the Sixers are a "series plot" which plays out during the whole series a little at a time. All good shows have side plots that last one maybe two episodes.

The show has been a series of contrived macguffins. You wouldn't do a supply run in a glorified golf cart that barely seats three. You need room for cargo. A deuce and half would have been believable. Three deuce and a half's and an escort would have been a supply convoy. Humans are a few steps from the apex of the food chain and hardly anyone is armed, not even with a stick. The settlement is built to keep out apex predators but anything the size of a velociraptor (The real turkey sized critter not the celluloid enlarged deinonychus of Jurassic Park) could slip in and out of the settlement easier than the teenagers who slipped out. The idiots writing the scripts need to spend a few months living where they have to keep bears, racoons, rats and mice out of their pantry.

Heinlein had it right in one of his stories. Pilgrims who settled a planet built their homes with heavy outward swinging doors and no windows on the ground floor to keep out a dangerous animal.

The "glorified golf cart" to deliver supplies certainly didn't make sense ....but OTOH perhaps in such an incomplete establishment, larger vehicles would prove ungainly over undeveloped roads.
I know .... excuses....
It's just a TV show.

AND, I still wanna see more and bigger DINOSAURS!!!!!!

This is "Stargate: SGU" by Dr. Seuss.
...Combined with the "Blade Runner" future reference.....
Yeah, I am a bit tired of films depicting earth's future as an "ecological disaster" as well. An old TV series "Earth 2" used it as an excuse to launch a space expedition to find another earth. Maybe ten or fifteen years ago they tried to do a movie version of "Lost in Space" with the exact same theme.

I don't need these things I WANT DINOSAURS.
I don't care if they're on a lost island or where-ever.

Episode 3 another bust and waste of time. Yawn. And the Big Mysteries advanced not an inch.

It reminded me of the silly plots on Syfy's Sanctuary, especially the second season. (Can't believe I watched two whole seasons of that rot.)

Looks like next week we'll at least see the return of the Sixers, or something.

Episode Four: The best ep since the premiere. One of the Big Mysteries gets advanced about an inch and a half, but that's still better than no movement at all, as in the previous two.

I'm smelling cancellation on this one. Might last all season but I can't see it lasting two, unless it picks up considerably. :(

Gee, Snake, now there's a mysterious box which they apparently can't open and contents they can't image with 22nd century technology.

I think we're going to find out that there is indeed a way to get back to the future and that evil corporations are intent on plundering the resources of the past.

Or we'll soon be seeing ancient aliens... :D

Yes, this makes sense. Soon this show will have a liberal plot line advancing man's pollution and Global warming.

The large mounted ones seem BIG enough .... but the therapods don't seem to agree.
You'd think if they could make small electric vehicles as reliable as the ones they use, and can time travel, they'd atleast have effective phasers.
Or death rays.
Or phased plasma rifles in the 40 megawatt range.:rolleyes:

TN relies on a WOW factor of dinosaurs to attract viewers. The story line isn't as important to attract eyeballs until they run out WOW factor. At that time show will rely on the story and the acting. If the script development is poor there won't be any story to rely on and the show will be history.

I remember a lot of interesting shows that failed when the writing went down the toilet. Twin Peaks morphed from quirky mystery into supernatural BS, Millennium turned solid supporting characters into ambiguous villains and most recently NCIS has a recurring theme of Ziva getting owned.

Or at least one heavy weapons guy per squad equipped with a .50 or an ATGM of some sort, although the terrain might be a factor for the latter.

I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be running around in the bush with only a pistola... :)

Let me get this straight; you want me to travel umpty-million years into the past, where dinosaurs abound, and you can't figure a way to schlep stout vehicles, with mounted M2HB on each? You expect me to amble about, armed with just a sidearm?

What are you smoking/drinking/injecting? You don't have someone big enough to shove me through that gate, dude.
