Hi, New to forums and M1's. Hurt recently so I sold my bigger rifle and bought what I thought was a very nice carbine with a rock ola receiver that I bought to shoot. When I stripped it down every piece that should be rock ola is. There is virtually no wear on any part. Serial number 4626138, stock looks like new with RMC in sling well, under the round grip is a P in a square, and on the right side just above the trigger is stamped RRA-?, I think it's a "C", also it is a high wood version. The stock says it went thru at least 1 rebuild. Even the parkerized finish is barely touched. Is it likely somebody maybe working at the arsenal put one together. It's seems too nice to shoot. Has old safety, type3 barrel band, and adjustable sight. Rock ola marked pieces I can see are the butt plate, receiver, barrel, stock, hand guard, bolt, trigger, recoil plate, trigger housing, magazine, rear sight, oiler, operating slide, hammer. Did employees have access to pick and choose, stamp it upgraded and take them home? Came with an m4 bayonet and sheath, and an original WWII bag.

Bluemax,

WELCOME ABOARD.

Sounds like a nice RED RIVER ARSENAL (Red River County, TX) rebuild, too.

SOME firearms are marked RRA followed by a letter/number
&
SOME are marked RRAD = RED RIVER ARMY DEPOT.

A personal note: RRAD is about 50 miles from where I was born & about 1/4 of my classmates dads worked there.

yours, sw
