Here is a link to a GI training film on the M2 Carbine. The same site has many other films that have to do with military history. When I was issued an M2 in Korea I had never seen one and no one bothered to explain to me the field stripping procedures. I had to wing it. Come to think of it when we were issued the M14 in Germany about 1961 or 62, it was the same thing but it's enough like the Garand that it was no problem.

Wow, I'm kinda envious that you were in the military during that narrow window of time where you could be issued both of those weapons.

I was a little young during the early sixties, and was brought up on a steady diet of WWII movies and TV shows. The first time I saw Gomer Pyle marching around with an M-14 I thought, "That is about the coolest looking rifle I've ever seen!"
