I noticed that too. My second thought is that those shots were staged for the camera. They're wearing eye protection when using the belt sander.

I watched a blacksmithing demo at Coloma last weekend. I don't recall the blacksmith wearing eye protection while hammering out a fixture in mild steel. The hammering was not violent. Pretty much the weight of the hammer. All the smith does is steer it around.

Very cool, really loved the acoustic guitar work as much as the video. The maker has a web site with many more very nice pieces. Along with being a great swordmaker, he's a very talented photographer...or has access to a good photographer; the photography is excellent.
