I've got an 1893 Mauser that I'm doing a new stock for it and I thought I had it all pretty well done (fitted well) and I put it all together and shouldered the rifle, looked thru the rear sight and the front sight looks off. It seems to sit too high. Same parts, new stock. I'm thinking the comb is too high and it forces me to sight lower on the front sight. Don't want to take anything off the comb but...
Can't really do anything with the front sight so I looked at the stock and realized the barrel may be sitting too high in the front stock (forearm area) so I need to maybe take some more wood out in the channel. But before I do that I thought I'd reach out to see if anyone has any ideas. And if you think I'm right how can I gauge how much to take out (except for whittle and check it)?
Any ideas would be appreciated.
