Looks like the Marines are still quite happy with the 1911. And I'm betting Colt's is quite happy also.

I think what that amounts to is admission that there's a limit to the number of times you can rebuild anything, 1911 frames included. I'd also expect the supply of spare parts is getting a bit thin 37 years after being "phased out".
