Ok, we have a couple of recent ones, with the standard subsequent calls for gun bans.

There's stuff we're not getting told.

But, there's this...

"Today's mass shooting in Sutherland Springs, Texas, was only halted after an armed Texan "engaged" the killer and put an end to the rampage, the Texas Rangers reported.

Freeman Martin, a major in the Texas Rangers and a spokesman for the Texas Department of Public Safety, says the suspect dropped his rifle and fled after being confronted by a local man who had grabbed his rifle."

csmkersh,

Channel 14 said earlier this evening that the mass murderer was evidently seriously wounded with the civilian's deer rifle (passing through the murderer's "bullet-proof" vest) & thereafter bled out, when his car ran off the road & crashed into a farmer's field".
(A TX Ranger, speaking on Channel 14 about 30 minutes ago, said that, "When the first peace officer arrived at the scene, the deceased had been dead for a good bit." - He then said, "The actual cause of death will have to await the findings of the ME in Travis County".)

I'd bet that NONE of the leftist "news outlets" will ever admit what he did to end the bloody massacre.

Btw, one of the DPS officers said that the HERO used an AR10 in .308 to severely wound the mass murderer. = Plenty of gun to pierce the ballistic vest & pass out the other side, imo.

Thank you, CSM & SW. Initial reports had been sketchy, people were not sure if a rifle or shotgun had been used by the local citizen, and many early reports did not mention type of firearm used at all. Thank you for posting this one.

The person who confronted the Church Attacker has given an interview, and I ran across it on my Yahoo start up page just now.

DavidE,

I would be astounded if any "news outlet" in DAMNYANKEE-land EVER admitted what actually happened at the Sutherland Springs First Baptist Church, inasmuch as the mass murderer was a violent LEFTIST DIMocRAT extremist, a militant atheist, an escaped mental patient, an ex-convict, a woman-HATER/ABUSER, a ex-USAF member with a Bad Conduct Discharge, etc., etc., etc.

In my experience, "the news" up in the NE is slanted HARD to the extreme left & (when I was stationed in NY) I learned to believe NOTHING that the radio/TV/newspapers spewed-out onto the airwaves & in print, absent documented FACTS from a known/neutral source.

IF there is anything specific that you would like answers to, I'll try to help.

yours, sw

stand wartie:

Little Mother, my great grandmother who lived through Lincoln's war, taught me it was damnyankee and all lower case letters. She and her house maid, a young black girl, hid when the Union troops raided the place, They knew they most likely would be raped if found.

If this offends some here, I'm sorry, but things were not a nice Gone With the Wind story.

"Gone With The Wind" was a "nice" story?:ek::ek:

I seem to recall a certain shot of a lot of wounded filling up a town square.....yeah, that was picturesque......

csmkersh,

Fwiw, "damnyankee" is ONE word in the area that I hail from in NETX, regardless off how it is capitalized/not capitalized. = The Union occupation troops in NETX (then Red River County) raged through the countryside raping, burning homes & crops, stealing everything of value, burning churches & schools. lynching anyone that they suspected of having once been a Southern guerrilla (W/O even the pretense of a trial) & committing hundreds of other WAR CRIMES.
(What portion of our family that was still in Marshall County, MS fled to NETX to avoid the "savages in blue".)

Shortly before his death Sherman,, "The Destroyer" was asked by a NY POST reporter, "General, during your famous march to the sea, did your troops free many slaves?"
The newspaper article stated that, "General Sherman laughed uproariously & then said, 'Why yes we did. We freed many slaves from being alive'."

Sherman was just as deserving of hanging as Yamashita was, as BOTH failed to rein-in the worst crimes of troops under their command.

csmkersh,

I tried (W/O success) to find HOPE STATION in MS. ====> WHERE is it (or WAS) it??

Fwiw, my family's home area from circa 1780, when the family wandered out of central SC, to late 1865 was near HOLLY SPRINGS, MS in Marshall County.
(I have a FEW cousins left in Marshall County.)

I suspect it died when the Yanks stole all the plantations and "gave" the Blacks 40 acres that somehow wound up being owned by the carpetbaggers. Little Mother and her dad and her husband wound up in La Port which is now part of South Houston. Both Captain Bonner, her dad, and John Isbel, her husband were murdered by carbaggers after they came to Texas. Almost restarted the war in that area.

It may be where New Hope, MS is located now a days. Dad's side was in Rankin County and the Kershs were all over Mississippi. Grandad Kersh moved to Oklahoma and did a little bootlegging there.

csmkersh,

Fwiw, since the main portion of our family was banished from the UK in the 17th Century until 1957, we made our living raising pigs & making/selling corn likker.
(Not a glamorous family past but PROFITABLE. = My grandfather sold about 6,000 head of swine, when he quit "running hogs" and my Uncle Jack ran eight 800 gallon submarine stills during Prohibition.)

The saying in NETX was that, "We measure corn production by the half-gallon jar instead of by the bushel."

The family finally got out of the two businesses when TX closed the open range & sugar got too expensive to "clean up" in "The Business".

SW, the closest leads I find in DeLorme Topo 9 (my nav program, which includes a lot of defunct and abandoned towns) suggest a Hope, now part of Philadelphia in Neshoba County, or a Hope Springs, part of Jackson's urban-sprawl. Lots of "New Hopes"--since Sherman burned several entire towns off the map, maybe one of those (now parts of Meadville, Coffeeville, Blue Mountain, Foxworth, Columbus and Booneville) might also be leads to look into.

I used to have an exhaustive encyclopedia on ACW sites and battles which I picked up at Allen County Library's surplus-book sale last time I visited the rels in Fort Wayne, if I could find it (assuming my late grandmother didn't give the damn thing away or let it get stolen by her caregivers like my aunt's laptop and so many other things) I'd try to look it up for you.

Illinois' State Legislature apparently wants to remove armed security from the State's Schools. The idea seems to be to replace armed police with unarmed psychiatric counselors.

(Why not have both? Unarmed counselors are there for advice and therapy, but cannot stop a determined point attack as effectively as an armed police officer.)

I am still trying to make sense of part off the story. It says a plan to withhold funding from schools which maintained armed security was removed from the bill. So, in a sense, it would not be a ban on armed security as long as schools continued to do it on their own. The problem, I would suppose, would be that the state funding which went to it before has been sent elsewhere and local schools or Police Departments would now have to cover costs themselves.
