Friends,

anyone have an approximate & fair value of a mint Model 12 "airweight snubbie" is these days? - this one looks unfired & is from a local estate sale.
(it seems to have been bought, loaded with 158Gr round-noses & placed in the bedside table's drawer, where it remained until the death of the only owner.)

the PO's daughter says that she believes that the S&W never was fired, but simply occasionally cleaned & returned to its place.

THANKS for reading this.

yours, sw

For Whatever It's Worth...

...Blue Book is currently listing the Model 12, in 100% condition, at $500. They show no difference in price for two- or four-inch barrel and only show a premium - $40 - for nickel plating. Four engineering changes are mentioned in a general comment but no specific mention is made as to whether they affect the value.

From some of the longing for two-inch Models 12's Ive seen expressed by some of the retired coppers over on Evan Marshall's forum, I suspect that some people might be willing to pay a bit more than that for a 100% specimen.

spwenger,

THANKS for the "look-up". - i thought that i had responded to this post of yours & thanked you before, but i guess that i'm "losing it" OR the puter didn't actually post my response.

at any rate, i'm headed over to the daughter's place tomorrow to try & buy the Model 12. - i LIKE the "old school" K-frame snubbies.

Yeah, I've had the same thing happen - type out a reply in a thread, wonder why no one else has commented, then discover a few days later that my reply was never "recorded."
