I have lusted after a Benelli M4 ever since they were featured so prominently on Top Shot, but I just couldn't justify the cost...until now. An almost-new one (round count: six) came on the market earlier this week at a very attractive price, and I just couldn't resist.

A few of us took her out to the range for a get-acquainted session, and she acquitted herself admirably. Loads of #1 buckshot were making softball-sized groups about three inches left of POA at ten yards...two clicks of the rear sight brought them right on target. With a slug, she knocked over a short length of piling timber at seventy yards, and didn't kick much at all.

I did get a black mark on my Man Card by peeking at the directions during assembly, but I'm not ashamed. I just want us to take care of each other...is that so wrong?

Well, OK (he mumbled grudgingly)...Charlie might have been there, and he might have provided some insight while Tim Burke tried various combinations of parts and subassemblies...one of which resulted in a complete shotgun.
