To All,

Fwiw, age is a relative thing" = About a decade before his passing @ 91YY, my Uncle Wayne (YES, the former Acting COB, USS CHAMPION AM-314, who I've mentioned more than a few times over the years) was said to be, by a "[email protected] kid", "Well you're just one old, crusty SOB, aren't you??"

My Uncle responded immediately, "I'm just 80 & I ain't old."
(He later told me that, "I didn't even try to deny that I am a crusty SOB." = Fwiw, I actually LOL.)

Almost as awkward as my frat brother who turned 21 on 9-11-01. :( Congrats on another year, though, and hope it was happy other than that.

Reminiscent of a story Mac told about his 80th birthday as the last living member of West Point Class of 1903... :)

Diamondback,

Fwiw, after my grandfather's passing in MAR 1962, my Uncle Wayne was our family's PATRIARCH.

Fyi, these days, the Patriarch is (GULP!) me.= Oldest man left alive in 2020.
(I'll NEVER be as WISE as my 2 predecessors were. = I still miss them both.)

And at 40, I am both the youngest and the last living male in my family tree... I have nightmares of living out my last years like Uncle Frank, alone and grumpy after having spent his entire life other than WWII taking care of the prior generations rather than begetting and raising the next.

Diamondback,

Fwiw, I have a 21 month old (ADOPTED) son, NATHAN PAUL & a 34YO & well-married nephew, KYLE THOMAS, (who is a foreign missionary for our church in Asia. - KYLE & ZOE are planning to have a family.), so our "clan" has a possible future & our family name is "safe" for at least another generation.
(My 44YO daughter is a computer engineer, on the UT-Austin Engineering
faculty & seems 100% DISINTERESTED IN a husband/kids.)
