That would not be too much in NE FL. A decent Colt with the factory option, would go for about that or higher.

I think you'll find the barrel is just slightly over 2 inches, not 2 1/2".

The shroud will probably not be original since by the time the DS-II was made, Colt had stopped selling or installing the shrouds.
The Waller Company was selling them by that time.

Depending on condition $400.00 is a very good deal. These stainless small frame Colt's are becoming a hot item for collectors and shooters.

To be exact, the "correct" name for your gun is the DS-II. Many people take this to stand for "Detective Special Two" but the official Colt name is DS-II.
There were three models of these later stainless small Colt's:
The SF-VI, the DS-II, and the Magnum Carry.
The frame size was the "SF" frame.

Good buy for a great defense gun.
