I just bought "Gunsmithing the AR-15".

Looks like a great book, but since Pat sometimes posts here, I have a question.

The index goes up to page 278+, but my copy only has 256 pages. Do I have a bad copy, in which case I will return it.

Or, was the index writer a little high when he wrote it?

Also, I do have one up on you.

You write that the lowest serial number AR you have seen was an Armalite SN 1983. I have held SN 1 in Reed Knights collection, so there.

And, thanks for another AR book. Even though I just thumbed through it, I already know that I need it.

Yes, someone was seriously over or under-caffeinated when they did the index.

I've seen #1 also, but since I was threatened with dire consequences if I so much as fondled my (not even camera-equipped) cell phone while visiting, I have no photos of anything in the Knight collection. Perhaps I should have that caption corrected on the second printing.

I've already set aside a master copy for updates, planning on the 2nd Edition. If you guys have things you disagree on, or see a mistake, let me know. We can thrash out our differences of opinion to the entertainment of all.

Thanks Patrick.

I receive Reed's death threats every time I visit. The Colt Thompson SMG SN#1 would not fit under my shirt.

I'll report any irregularities I find after I finish the book.
