"New" Smith M19

Just read a writeup of the new S&W Model 19s in the new G&A Mag. (Spoiler alert: I'll keep my old ones, thenkyew.) In a pic of the two together, it looked like maybe the grip frame of the Performance Center comped 3" version has been shortened a little. Yes, I know the Target grips on the 4" are longer than the grip frame, but the grip on the new 3" looks shorter than the round butt on my old 2.5" 19. The article doesn't show it with the grips off, nor mention any shortening. Anyone know anything about this?
