Need a little Smithing assistance. Got a couple of Pistols with Novak Cut Front Sight that need adjustment to center the Novak Low Mount Rear Sight. As they are Tritium I've been told that a standard punch could damage the sight beyond repair. Should I invest in a sight pusher, or is there a sight punch cut specifically to the dimensions of the Novak Front Sight Groove?

Make sure the punch is on the dovetail, NOT the sight blade, and be as gentle as possible. Most folks modify an interchangeable brass punch tip, some modify a nail set to have a larger diameter and a flat to index on the bottom of the sight dovetail.

Thank You Sir.

Novak gave me the following: "You can use a brass or nylon punch with heavy cardstock between the dovetail of the sight and the punch itself." As they don't at this time manufacturer a punch/tool to drift thier front sight.

So the time has come to get to the meat of this conversation.
What is so important about the Novak sight system?
Let's start with all the other 1911 sight systems. (yes I've got a little experience to say the least.) Let's start at the bottom line. With both of my 1911 Novak sighting systems I find that I've developed a horizontal vice vertical stringing problem. Only 1911's equipped with Novak Sights seem to have a point of aim, point of impact problem, that gives me a horizontal problem. My point of impact is left of my point of aim continuously. (dead center equates to a left of center point of impact at even 50 feet- 15 yards)
Now I can quote Jerry Kuhnhausen for mechanical accuracy, but that has little to due with Operator Error!
So I went back to the 50 yard line with with known Bo-mar Millet style sights,( on proven 1911's) and horizontal point of aim/point of impact still match. So what is the difference with Novak sights?
How many others have experienced this problem with the Novak System? and other than drifting the front sight what has been Y'all's answer??????

I believe that I've tapped into a few experienced 1911 Trigger Pullers on this forum? So this shouldn't be to hard a question/conversation? JMHO. But real experience is valued above the hypothetical in this conversation. Thank Y'all.

Sounds like you need to drift the front sight of that errant 1911 to the left. That should move point of impact to the right.

Or you could do it the old fashion way and move the rear sight to the right.

Well, first I had to make sure that it wasn't just operator error.

But adjusting/drifting the Novak Low Mount rear sight on the 1911 Taurus as far right as possible got point of aim/point of impact to within 1/4 inch at 50 foot - 15 yards. So the S&W 1911 with Novak Sights is about 3 inches off, I didn't want to attempt the same max right almost off the slide adjustment with a sidearm that I might actually carry.
