I thought that guns that had been supplied through the MAP could never be re-imported for commercial civilian sale. And this wasn't a King Hussein thing (much as I despise him), but goes back years, decades--to GCA 68 or maybe even before that, maybe even into the '50s. The idea was to keep foreign governments or their often-corrupt officials from turning our guns into a cash cow for themselves.

In fact, I've often wondered how this was gotten around by Korea in 1986.

Anyone have any details on any of this?

Ratfink2u et.al.,

ZERO makes Jimmy Carter LOOK like "History's greatest leader" & Richard Nixon LOOK like "a paragon of HONESTY". ====> Just seeing him on TV makes me want to vomit & preferably on him.

Now, ZERO looks as if he's going to push us into the civil war in Syria. = [email protected]#$%^&!

Unfriggin real...hello? take a clue from GB and leave it alone. We're spread thin enough already and we've left enough weapons over there to start another 3rd world military.
LOVE the comparison to Jimmy Carter & "Tricky" Dick!

This whole "pump fake" with Syria is one of the most incompetent things I have ever seen.

These guys had over a year to sell a case to the American People on action, should this moment come, and they did not. The only one who really said something all this time was Sen. John McCain. Plus on the international front the State Department has done nothing to get other people (Besides the Gulf states, who already hate Assad, and Turkey - See the Gulf States) on board internationally. I think it is because the higher ups in the State Department have been chosen these last few years for political reliability domestically (I.E. maintaining the Benghazi coverup) over any sense of professionalism or competence. We're seeing the effects if this disorganization and amateur hour stuff now.

By the way, whatever Congress is going to do (The threat followed by no action from President Obama has effectively honked off both sides) the Nimitz battle group is now moving:

USS Nimitz carrier moves into Red Sea

I also wonder what he effect of this mess will be elsewhere in the world when people wonder about the US honoring commitments we make. The amateurism here is stunning. Most importantly, they seem to have no plan at all, at least none they have shared, about what is supposed to happen after we start shooting as far as force levels we are willing to commit and objectives we are aiming to accomplish. Are we helping the rebels? Are we aiming to degrade warfighting abilities? Are we coordinating any work with arming the rebels, assuming that if we shoot and Assad stays in power he won't be in a good mood regarding us anyway and neither will his backers?

We've as much as stated we are not after regime change.
Not that I am FOR or against it but I do wonder what we think blowing up a camel's ass is going to do. We have now given Assad plenty of opportunity to move and hide assets and otherwise prepare. So we drop a few bombs but nothing happens except the maintainance guys have to go out and toss dirt back into bomb craters and sweep up a ton of debris.
WOW.
Assad must be quivering in his jackboots.:eek:mg:
:cryinlaugh:
The "rebels" are badguys (A.Q.)
Assad is a bad guy.
It's "badguy vs. badguy.
Machiavelli said that when two enemies are in the process of destroying each other, the thing to do is sit back and let them and stay out of the mess ... and enjoy the show.
