And for all the crap in the rest of their shows, there were Lenny Briscoe from Law & Order, Provenza from The Closer/Major Crimes, Rossi from Criminal Minds (bonus, Joe Mantegna is a Fellow Gun Nut and unapologetic 2A advocate) and Mike Franks from NCIS... :) (Korsak from Rizzoli & Isles gets an honorable mention, too.)

And of course there's the ultimate Grumpy Old Bastard, Agent K as depicted by Tommy Lee Jones... lol a dude who crawled down the gut of a giant cockroach to blow it apart from inside out just because it ate his favorite gun.

Watch it, I am nearly 62 years old and resemble that remark! ;)

But seriously, i look about 10 years my junior, because I don't drink, smoke use/abuse OTC medication or street drugs of any kind.

Such an approach to life keeps me form being "crippled" with maladies associated with a body that's aging early.

Well I'm 50, and I feel 40 years my senior. Because I've been in one very major motorcycle accident (head on with a car, ran over by said car), and two lesser. Had a line over while parachuting and hit the ground at 50mph, was blown up with a grenade simulator, crashed a bicycle in a race at 55mph, blew out my knee for the second time in a volleyball tournament, separated my shoulder lifting a guy from a car hanging off a cliff, blew out my other knee when a 400lb patient was dropped on me and hyper-flexed it, been knocked unconscious boxing and in football, blew out my knee the 3rd time when a 160lb St. Bernard decided to give me some love, broke my ribs at least 4 times (always the same ones too). Only drink the occasional beer, never smoked, don't take drugs. But my body has been through hell and it all hurts.

36, look 40ish... my 45yo GF likes to joke that one of the things she likes about me is how I can "go from 15 to 55 or vice versa in a matter of seconds."

And my only vices are caffeine, a little too much good food and the occasional greaseburger, and a just plain INSANE collection of historical wargaming miniatures. (Like, for one line, "One of the Top Ten Collections WORLDWIDE" insane...)

The 16- to 20-hour days staring at computer screens do take their toll, though. :( (Which is why you guys see me post at weird hours sometimes... I haven't slept in so long I've forgotten what it's like, just Catnaps and Caffeine and lots of both.)

SW, almost certainly, unless you hold to the view of "you don't get older than DEAD." :p (The Sperm Donor would have been 60 this coming December. No big loss, he walked out early in my life and his absence allowed far better men to step in and show How Things Are Done.)

I'll take that as punching-way-above-weight-class high praise. :) Remember, I was a 20something snotnosed college kid back when I was part of BattleRifles... as I've said before, I'd like to think a big part of my becoming the man I am was the influence of all you Old Guys.

Diamondback,

I had no idea that you were one of "the kids" here.
(I'm probably senior to your Dad.)

CONGRADS.

yours, sw

Like Kevin I fell about a decade older than my 61 + years...some due to the excesses of youth, some because of one hella accident. The docs did a pretty good job of putting Humpty Dumpty back together again, but as Lili Von Shtupp says most famously, " everything below dee vaist Ist kaput!" And pain is consistent. Beats the alternative.

What really sucks is how my hearing and eyesight is degrading. Jeez, the ol man upstairs has one helluva sense of humor! If I ever get to meet him, I just might try to kick him square in the cookies. :eek:mg::bolt:

IrishCop,

I certainly understand. - A lot of mornings I feel about 169YO rather than 69.

Otoh, I feel blessed to NOT be in the pitiful shape that many of our young DAV members & Wounded Warriors are. = I see them every week at the MEDDAC at Ft Sam Houston, just about 2 miles from my front door & over at AUDIE MURPHY VA Hospital, too.

yours, satx

What aggravates me is I've got a 80+ year old body but my mind still functions like I'm in my 30s.

Pain is something many have to live with. I've had pain since 1982 but won't take anything stronger than aspirin. Had too many buddies come out of VA hospitals addicts. :censored:

I am 55 and fell most of the time like I am 45 in pretty good health for the most part everytime they do a sonar gram of the heart they say it one 10-15 years younger "it pumps".My worst aliment is having seven documented concussions some of them bloody but never a fractured skull some migraines and mild bouts of depression at times it seems.I believe in looking forward and try not to look back you can't fix yesterday but you can try today or tomorrow.
