I just watched a video I wasn't sure would be made in my lifetime. It's outlines the story of the A-12, the single-seat predecessor to the SR-71 that was flown by a cadre of six CIA pilots. The story teller, Frank Murray, is one of the six and a pure joy to listen to. He combines some salty humor with an amazing narrative of the development and operation of the A-12/YF-12/SR-71 family. (The A-12 was the hot rod of the group, with a single cockpit and smaller chines; he refers to the SR as "the family model").
I didn't really think that a some of this info would be de-classified this soon, but I'm glad it was. It's a fantastic story of guys who were cruising faster than a rifle bullet during the Kennedy administration.
