Hey Folks,

I would like to pick your collective brains for a good site to purchase parts. I am in the need of a 'flat bolt', 'ejector arm' for my 1943 IBM (Mixer) M1.

Last week while my wife and I were plunking at targets the gun jammed. Inspection revealed that the bolt on the ejector side fractured.

I'm going to need some parts and looking into 'who'.

In the next couple of days I'd like to post more info on the failure with photo's of the fractured bolt, ejector arm, and receiver.

I'm really sad about this because this little gun was my grandfathers in Korea. I would like to get it back to 'good'.

They used to be Numrich Arms, now they go by Numrich Gun Parts Corporation.

The company was started by George Numrich just after WWII.
He started out buying milsup gun parts, then began buying up what was left of out of business gun companies to get their parts.

After a time they began making guns, first black powder types based on old Hopkins & Allen models, then branching out to the Thompson SMG and semi-auto and a 1911 pistol.

An interesting store concerns the Thompson Auto Ordnance company.
Just before WWII started General Thompson and his investors sold the nearly bankrupt company to a man named McGuire...... Just in time for WWII to start and McGuire to become a millionaire making Thompson's for lead lease and the US military.

When the military stopped production of the Thompson and made the M3 Grease gun standard, all the Thompson parts, tools and dies, and documentation was crated up and the company was closed.

In the early 50's Numrich bought the defunct company to get the parts inventory.
Usually what Numrich got when he bought a defunct company was parts and a bunch of boxes of musty old company records.
Numrich was astounded when they opened the Auto Ordnance crates and found not only parts and documents, they also found the Auto Ordnance collection of prototype full-auto guns and a number of full-auto production guns from the 20's and WWII.

Unlike today, the old ATF understood that Numrich had no idea what he was getting and they allowed him to register the priceless guns and keep them.

In the 60's Numrich decided to build a legal semi-auto Thompson gun using as many original 20's and WWII parts as possible.
At the time the ATF would not allow any firearm to be made that even resembled a Thompson gun.
Plainfield Carbine made an M1 Carbine with an aluminum stock with a cast front Thompson-like grip and a surplus M1-A1 Thompson butt stock.
The ATF almost refused to let them market it.

They told Numrich he couldn't make a semi-auto Thompson but Numrich threatened to sue them.
Since there was no law or even ATF documented regulation the ATF knew they'd loose in court so they told Numrich he could build the gun but if it could be converted to fire open bolt or full-auto they'd shut him down.

Numrich did a design that the ATF would accept, and he held a news conference where he bragged that he'd spent $100,000 designing a semi-auto Thompson gun that could not be converted to open bolt or full-auto.

Within 2 months after hitting the market the-then once a month Shotgun News was full of ads offering to sell plans on how to convert the semi-auto Thompson to open bolt and/or full-auto.

Does anyone have input regarding 'Fulton Armory' for Parts and Cusromer service?

I have 'bookmarked' the recommendations that all y'all posted above. Just wondering about Fulton.

I need a critical part for my old M1 and would hate to step in something smelly.

Numrich still does have a decent selection of M1 parts some still NOS.I just order some parts to rebuild the bolt on my M1a all good fixed the issue but stay clear of the new firing pin to tight could see a FA girl with that one in the bolt.I looked on Ebay for some M1 parts as M1!! and seen some M2 conversion out [email protected]$140-300.Now I thought you could not sell all 5 pieces on line like that?

Are you serious? Man, I'm so out of touch with stuff like this ... Oh well, such is our World today....

Makes me only want to work harder to bring my old grand dad's M1 up to snuff. It is a 'mix-master' he used in Korea so I do not mind replacing some 'stuff'. Because soon maybe I will not be able to.

I'm perfectly serious and the REGULATION by BATFE is UTTERLY STUPID. = It makes NO sense whatever than the un-serial numbered PARTS of a carbine (other than the bare receiver) are LAWFUL to own BUT if you acquire a stripped receiver AND own a set of M2 parts, you WILL be prosecuted as a FELON & go to federal prison for 10 years.

Of course the entire NFA (as amended) makes NO commonsense either, so I'm not sure that the "M2 parts decision" by BATFE is any more foolish, contrary to commonsense & SILLY than the NFA as a whole is.

REMEMBER: Government is nearly always FOOLISH & the congress-critters, who pass the laws, are equally FOOLISH.
I'm sure that you will remember the words of Nancy Pelosi reference "Obamacare": We have to pass the law to know what's in it.
