Not sure I'm crazy about the timing of this announcement, but...hold on to ya butts!!

Cases are the Connecticut AWB and magazine capacity ban.
And a case of a man convicted of a misdemeanor domestic violence who has been denied purchase of a firearm.

I suspect the Court will go with the Lautenberg Amendment and uphold his bar of firearms ownership.

Heller left open the possibility of certain restrictions and after the Orlando shooting I'd bet they also uphold the hi-cap magazine ban.:censored:

To ALL,

In a strange way, I hope that the SCOTUS finds for the "anti-gun loons", as I would expect those decisions to ASSURE that "HILLARY the LIAR" & MANY down-ballot "DIMocRATS" are defeated & the leftist "DIMocRATS" are humiliated/marginalized.

A loose coalition of GOP voters, libertarians, TP folk, gun-owners, moderate to conservative Democrats & the "Clinton HATERS" will vote AGAINST "Her Imperial Highness" & MANY of the so-called "Bernie young socialists" will likely "stay home" on Election Day as the leftists DESPISE the lying HRC almost as much as I do.

Then we conservatives/second amendment advocates will get 2, 3, 4 or (possibly even) 5 PRO-2nd Amendment judges on the SCOTUS & numerous PRO-gun judges at lower federal/state court levels.

just my opinion, sw

It's a nice thought, but I don't buy it for a second that Trump is a conservative. I think he's a con man doing what he needs to do to get into the White House. So, not much different from Hillary. What great choices we have this year. Charlatan or Charlatan.

Kevin Gibson,

NOT only is Trump NOT a conservative but I don't approve of his policies, either.

Nonetheless, he is a FAR better choice than "Her Imperial THIGHness", as he isn't a COMMON THIEF & a PATHALOGICAL LIAR, as HRC demonstrably IS.
(Anyone who would steal from a small/private charity, as Hillary DID, will do ANYTHING.)

yours, sw

Rumor has it a provision for due process has been added to the bill that would allow prevention of gun purchases for those on the terror watch list. With this provision, I'm not only okay with it, but I'm in support of it. But without a reasonable due process, I wouldn't even consider it.

Apparently it now has the support of the Republicans and the NRA.

Kinda sad that the Dems resisted this provision for a full year...really stupid to not have such a provision, because a SCOTUS challenge would just demand it or throw the whole law out. Why not just do it right to begin with???

Okay wait...

I just read the proposed legislation, and there is no provision for due process.

They added a provision that the DOJ has to make a case before a judge, but there's nothing in there about the accused facing their accuser, or having any avenue to get their name off the list if it's wrongfully put on the list.

SCREW this, this is another NRA sellout.

I don't know who said there was provision for due process, but I'm not seeing one.

If there is, someone point it out to me.

Kevin Gibson,

The reason that I am 100% OPPOSED to the proposed law is that a person may find himself/herself ON a "terrorist watch list" or the "no-fly list" & there is NO WAY to GET OFF of it.
(A local deputy sheriff in Bexar County discovered that he was ON "the no-fly list", when he tried to "return home to RI for a family reunion", as he simply had a "somewhat similar name" to an ACTUAL terrrorist suspect. - As of last Friday, he was STILL on that list & cannot fly on a commercial airliner.)

The No-Fly List

Senator Ted Kennedy was on the no-fly list for about 6 months years ago. He should have been on a no-drive list!

If the government was forced to notify a person that they were on a no-fly list and there was a way to quickly work out a problem if there was a error on the feds part I might agree to tying the list to a block on firearms buys.

As long as the bill is missing due process, I will not support it. There has to be a way for someone to cheaply and easily get their name off the list if it is on there wrongfully.

I would be in support of the list but as you say with due process but constitutes the said criteria to get on the list is of bigger concern. The other fact it always seems with ANYTHING the guberment does once you open that barn door they take it a step further down the road an inch at a time.

Kevin Gibson,

in the case of the Deputy, he went to court about him being on "the no-fly list" & the "HLS spokesman" told the District Court in a "filed document" that, "- - - - the government can neither confirm nor deny who, if anyone, is on or not on any alleged 'no-fly list'."

Then, when ordered to state what the Deputy's situation is, the feds said that, "our office will have no further comments" & claimed that it was "a matter of national security".

And that's precisely how the democrats want it...and don't kid yourself, Republicans want it that way too...some just don't like to add in the guns...but they're completely okay with trashing every other civil right.

Had I been Judge, I would have told that Federal minion "you're held in contempt until the AG AND Sec of HS cough up either a reason this man is on the list or get him off it."
