From the Feb. Issue of American Rifleman, page 36, in which Rick Hacker explains the changes between the 1911 and 1911A1:
"...the grip safety spur was lengthened to help curtail the all-too-common occurence of 'slide bite,' caused by improperly gripping the handgun...that resulted in the slide slicing the web of the hand during recoil."
"Slide bite" in a 1911? Really? Has the Hacker confused the 1911 with the Walther PP/PPK series?
