I recall reading somewhere that the prices for these aren't going to be cheap. I think they start at around $1,200.00-ish.
While too high for my pocketbook, that's about what I've seen for 1911A1s marked government property and in shootable condition. The rack 1911s were pretty sorry shooters back in the late 1980s so I normally carried my own pistol even if the ARs said it was verboten.

CMP General Manager: What you can expect to pay for a surplus 1911

Steve Cooper is the general manager of CMP North as well as their marketing manager.
"Their values might be a little bit less, but we want some sort of threshold to prevent anyone from coming in off the street and plunking down $400. I would guess they'd sell for $800 to $1,000 but they'll go by grade like our M-1s - service grade to collector grade. The rarer ones - ones with all matching numbers or ones carried by celebrities or heroes with provenance, will go to our auction house."

They are tempting, but since I have an Auto-Ordnance clone, I will probably be satisfied with that. Hoops and price for the real deal are a bit off-putting.

I thought there was in fact I thought it was those the last administration blocked :dunno: it could as well been the Philippines since both are PTO.
What I was thinking. I already have one of each, but think it would be great for others to have the chance to own some real history.
