I was thinking at 0330 and unable to sleep. Various survival rifles are available, mostly single shots or .22s.
I was thinking that an AR barrel and extension could make the base for a straight pull, lightweight survival rifle.
It would need only the front end of a bolt carrier, the bolt, some kind of receiver in stamped alloy or poly, a short magazine, a Magpul style shotgun stock, designed to stretch to hold the components, like an AR7. Chambered for 5.56x45 or something in the .30 caliber range, it might find a market.
