L.A. Official Not Authorized to Carry Gun​

The police department's anti-terrorism chief was not authorized to carry the type of handgun that airport authorities seized during a routine search of his baggage last month, police said.

John Miller, an ABC-TV reporter before he was hired for the security job, was off-duty … when officials discovered a .38-caliber Smith & Wesson handgun in his bag.

Miller said he had been honest and cooperated with the investigation. "I'm sure, in the end, we'll see these were my paperwork errors with no intent to break any rules," he said.
