I wanted to give the community an update on some changes that are coming to the site. This weekend, I'm going to be making some updates to the website and server, and one of those updates will be changing the domain name of the site.

I understand this website has changed names a few times over the years, and so I wasn't too excited about putting the community through another name change. The intent though is to rebrand only the name of the site with a solid name, one that is easy to remember and easy to understand for new people who find our community. The forum staff have been in discussion for some time now about this, and we all agreed to change the name of the site.

I'm sure this is obvious, but I want to emphasize that the site and content will not change, it's just the name of the site. That said, the site will be renamed the Gun Hub and the new domain name will be gunhub.com

This new name is short, easy to spell, and easy to remember. It's fitting for the kind of community we have, which is a hub for everything guns and gun-related activities outdoors, etc.

When the domain name change happens, all old URL links will automatically forward, and everything will work the same.

Once this change has been made, then I can move forward on fulfilling my promise to start upgrading the site more than what I've already done. The only thing I've done up to this point is upgrade the forum software, but I want to do much more than that - give the site a better looking design, start adding more functions and features, get more moderating powers in place for the forum staff, and to start working on breathing new life into the site, as I feel this can be a friendly and vibrant gun community.

If anyone has any questions, please let me know, I'm happy to help.

Thank you, and I hope everyone enjoys the upcoming Labor Day weekend with you and yours.

Looks good so far, and I think the new name is a bit less stodgy than the old one.

Have a nice Labor Day yourself; I'm going to retire the pool for the season and do a bit of plinking.

You realize that there are hundreds of orphaned links from the amback and eotac periods as well. Is there any way to query the database and update the links?
Yes, I can write some code to make it so all older URL links reference the same links on the new domain name. Can you please PM me some of those URL Links so I can see how they're structured?

Thanks!

Finally... the name change has been completed. All old URL Links are now working.

I am working through the orphan links that phantom mentioned.

Lots more updates coming later today.
