About every decade or so I change out my carry gun. My daughter turns 18 in 6 months and when she goes off to college she really wants to take my LW Commander with her, and who am I to say no.

Now that CZ makes the P01 with the Omega trigger, I think that's the winner. Now you can switch it out to a conventional safety and carry it condition 1, so I'm in.

Got a couple of gunsmithing projects to get out of the way to fund this new purchase. And of course it will need tritium sights and some trigger work, but other than that, I think it's about perfect. I'll be picking up a Com III holster from HBE Leatherworks. I have a Com III for my 1911's and it's easily my favorite holster, so I'm sticking with Eric's line of leather.

Kevin,
What is the Omega trigger? I had a couple of CZ 75's that I liked but they were buggy. Sent one back to CZ twice and all they did was change the problem. When it first went back the double action would fail occasionally. When it came back the hammer would fall to half cock when the trigger was cycled slow. When it came back the second time it had the worst double action trigger I have ever seen. I moved it down the road. I liked the ergonomics of the pistol and it was accurate enough. But the buggy trigger was a deal breaker. Yea, I could carry it cocked and locked but, I think there is some situations where double action can be useful.

Dan,

Sorry to hear of your experience with CZ. As a gunsmith I occasionally work on CZ's but I've yet to do a repair, always improvements. Sounds like some repair guy at CZ just wasn't doing his job correctly.

The Omega trigger is a simplification of the trigger system and generally results in a slightly smoother out of the box trigger. Plus the way it's setup, you can convert it from traditional thumb safety (for C1 carry) or swap it over to be a decocker; which is pretty cool. The one thing that was keeping me from buying the P01 was that it was decocker only, so the Omega trigger allows me to have it any way I want.

I feel ya when it comes to daughters and their needs, Kevin. Both of mine have talked me out of couple of favorite revolvers.

I have owned one of the old CZ's in .45 acp, and the Springfield version P9. Liked them both, but had to carry cocked and locked because the trigger reach was just too much for me. I always like that the CZ had that option.

I think your choice is a good one.

Kevin Gibson, et. al.,

I don't know about anyone else's daughter but mine, when she was naturalized as a US citizen & decided that she wanted a handgun, didn't want "a handgun"; instead, she only wanted MY pistol & "adopted" my little MAK that I'd had for years & years. - Her comment was, "Daddy, that little gun is way too 'girly' for a grown man to carry. You should buy something bigger." AND with that, the MAK disappeared into the back pocket of a pair of size 8 Chic jeans.
(She essentially carries it 24/365, provided that it's lawful to do so.)

That void is the reason that I bought my Sig-Sauer P225/P6.

I don't think that it will be any surprise to any father of daughters but the is MUCH truth in the old saying, "A son is yours till he meets his wife; a daughter is your problem for all of your life."
(CHUCKLE)

yours, sw
