Yanks were the most joyful thing that ever happened to British womanhood. They had everything- money in particular, glamour, boldness, cigarettes, chocolate, nylons, Jeeps- and genitalia. The Yanks were sex-mad and countless British women who had virtually no experience in this line were completely bowled off their feet (and on their back, I suppose I should add). . . . Almost every working girl aspired to 'have a Yank.'"I think never in history has there been such a conquest of women by men as was won by the American army in Britain in World War II."
They realized it. Most of the young Brits were in North Africa. The Americans that did come forward were usually transferred to a different base.I wonder if there was a mysterious baby boom starting around 1944. Many family trees probably sprouted an American branch without anyone realizing it.
Harrrr..."Heard about those new utility knickers? One Yank and there off!"![]()
and to a certain extent I ran into the same thing in Germany back in '87. Since I was always in uniform and a .45 in a shoulder holster the old folks would stop me and ask if I was an "Englisher." Once they learned I was American and especially a Texican we became best friends. Seems the Brits were heavy handed in their occupation while we Americans moved on.csmkersh,
Are you saying that "overpaid, oversexed & over here" was just a case of SOUR GRAPES from OF in GB??

Then again, there have also been long and strong ties between Germany and Texas, like New Braunfels being founded by a German prince.and to a certain extent I ran into the same thing in Germany back in '87. Prince Solms settled Solms Texas South of New Braunfels, New Braunfels and some split off and settled Fredericksburg, Boerne, Bulverde and I think Pipe Creek. Then here in San Antonio there was the King William district and German was used by the city council as was Spanish. Then again, there have also been long and strong ties between Germany and Texas, like New Braunfels being founded by a German prince.![]()
