I've long been pondering the misuse of the term "Progressive" in current political areas. At least misuse with respect to TR and fellow travelers. It seem dead on if one accepts it as the term of art 1950-1970 for those formerly labled "agrarian reformers".

Given the attempted resurrection of Hillary, we need a snappy more pointed label for those of similar political bent.

"Neofeudalist" isn't going to work, despite it being true. She does see herself as royalty and the rest of us as serfs. "Neocom" is too close to neocon. Any suggestions?

While fascist is close [(neo)communist is more apt], it's so old school.

There's really no surprise here. The Left, abetted by their allies in media, are adept at substituting euphemisms when ideas or labels prove odious.

Think about it: "pro-abortion" stinks to high heaven, so it was long ago replaced by the euphemism "pro-choice". Never mind that you have to be pro-abortion for a "choice" to exist; once the media hop on the bandwagon and adopt the euphemism, it sticks.

Similarly, "gun control" long ago fell out of favor as too obvious; "gun safety" has been successfully substituted, often accompanied by another of the Left's favorite adjectival terms, "common sense".

"Global warming" got to be a little bit of a joke, since the phenomenon wasn't being observed to the extent initially predicted, so "climate change" was substituted.

So, when "liberal" and "Left-wing" started to get a little smelly, "progressive" was deftly substituted. Almost overnight, the term was universally adopted by the press, so that "liberal" has all but disappeared from the lexicon.

Fortunately, you can sometimes usurp these euphemisms. For example, when it comes to a woman's right to carry a gun, I'm pro-choice...aren't you?

Neither Progressive nor Liberal, if you use the real definition, apply to the Left. Maybe Obama would get his pick and Warren would squeeze in ahead of Hillary.

I knew a sergeant in the army who was wounded and captured by the North Koreans early in the war, he was with the 24th division which was the first to go. Any way he told me about the 're-education" by the Chinese in a camp where he was held. The guys who accepted their bull were called " progressives", ever since then I cringe when I hear that word. The sergeant was called a radical.
