I've been off the tech highway lately. I haven't watched much tv and have limited my internet to a few hours a week.

Home alone and did not feel like going to the lake so I turned on the TV.

Saw Gunsmoke listed and thought great an old favorite this is a good night for tv.

What the Heck???? A gunshop that does custom work sounds ok but $10,000 to customize a rifle and pistol with Trigger jobs on both with a bedded short barrel and scope on the rifle and some engraving.

I'm glad he came down to 8 grand for the job. They did trigger jobs using a roto dremel tool to POLISH trigger and sear surfaces

they built a noch(sp) rifle from scratch that was neat but argued that octogon barrels could not be used because they need a delayed fire system and needed round barrels:confused:

still haven't figured out why they didn't drill the octogons to match how they did the round barrels.
It would have been a lot easier to line up the holes and weld up.

I just wonder if anyone will track to see how many home wanna be gunsmiths will get the dremel out and make unsafe guns or try to make something from scratch and hurt someone.

don't mind my rant I'm just bored and amazed at what passes for tv now.

I should have taken the dogs and walked to the lake, guess I'll just pull out a Book for some easy reading before bed maybe some Elmer Keith will help get this out of my mind

all those so-called reality shows are done for ENTERTAINMENT PURPOSES only- anybody with any gunsmithing experience realises that the methods employed are bush league at best- i've watched a few of the one we get here and once he said that the m-16 was " the greatest rifle ever produced" i tuned him out and went to watch the girlies- any girlies- even the kardashians- and a great deal of them seem to be involved with re-inventing the wheel-

The show cited is one of the most blatantly staged of the genre.

I saw one where they "custom made"...from scratch...an 1873 Peacemaker for a preacher (maybe it was two...I forget). Anyway the finished product looked just like the Uberti 3:10 to Yuma "Hand of God". Not so sure they didn't do a bait and switch...

Taking a dremel to a trigger or locking lugs on a fine rifle is shocking but after looking into the show and watching a few episodes.

1 If I have to go tell my head gunsmith that he's screwing up and tell him how to do his job then it's time to clean house and find a new set of gunsmiths.

2 If he threw the money on the table and told me thats all he would pay for my gun and I had 10 min or else he would take the money and walk :eek:mg: He would be walking kinda funny as he left in about 30 seconds.

They need to show this to everyone who wants to have a gunshop or be a gunsmith and tell them this is not how to run a business.
