Apparently the U.S. Government is pressuring the Colombian government to give amnesty to FARC guerrillas. This is kind of counterproductive as FARC seems to be on the ropes after years of attacks that have included murder, kidnapping and random violence.

So, is this a plan to take the group out of circulation or give them a breather? I'd hope the former, as far as intention, but I worry it could be the latter if put into practice.

The ONLY thing ANY FARC terrorist should be given is a swift try and a swift FRY.

It's an olive branch to get them to finally just shut down. Probably won't happen, but you gotta try it.

If there is one thing history has taught us, you will NEVER beat an insurgency militarily. You can hold them back, you can keep them in check, but you will never win militarily. The British had to learn that lesson the hard way time and time again.
