I've got a spare gas cylinder that I was thinking of unitizing (I would prefer the weld method). Who would be a good person to send it to for this work?

Check with Krieger Barrel Co.

They did a couple of mine for around $30 IIRC.

By welding the pieces or another method?

I also had krieger untize a gas system for me. They welded it. When I got my gas cylinder in the mail, the band was welded on upside down, but I sent it back to them and they corrected the problem.
