I purchased a footlocker that belonged to a 2nd Lt. Warren Lee Bacon, that was in the Chemical Corps, in 1953. The footlocker was in great shape, with no damage at all. It even had the Government shiping tags still attached to the trunk when they shipped it from Ft. McCLellan to Utah Proving Grounds, Utah. The shelf still had the original covering and no wear. The footlocker was filled with his uniforms, Summer and Winter. There was his service caps and utility caps, belts and an assortment of insignias. Everything was just like it was put in the locker yesterday. I even called and spoke to the late 2nd Lt. Bacon's widow, in an attempt to gain more information.
There were two chains in the footlocker which I had never seen before. Mrs. Bacon said the chains were in the locker when they put it away for storage but she had no idea what they went too.
This is where I am asking for this Forum's assistance. If anyone recognizes the chains please provide me with that information.
