Greetings...I am the proud daughter of LT COL William M Jones, USAF NAVIGATOR.

Dad is at the end of his life. I am making the plans for his funeral. The problem is this:

I have his DD-214. I want to purchase his ribbons and medals to make a display case befitting his career.
* In item 24 of the DD-214 are 22 items....all abbreviations.

How can I tell what is what with those abbreviations?
Can't order the medals and awards unless I know the names. Can anyone assit me? You must know how greatful the family will be.

AFM 900-3 -The AF Manual that authorizes the award.

AFRESM -Armed Forces Reserve Medal.

AFM 900-3 -The AF Manual that authorizes the award.

AFLSA w/1 SV OLC &BR OLC Air Force Longevity Service Award+ 1 Silver Oak Leaf and 1 Bronze Oak leaf. OLC is Oak Leaf Cluster, which is awarded for additional awards of the same medal. Bronze is another award, Silver equals 5 Bronze. Thus, he received this 1+1+5=7 times.

VSM w/3 BSS- Vietnam Service Medal with 3 Bronze Service Stars. Awarded 4 times. BSS is analogous to a Bronze OLC. There are also Silver Service Stars.

RVCN- (RVCM?) That would be Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal
