Discussion Starter #1
I heard an interesting radio program featuring Dr. Luther of the Moody Church in Chicago. He was discussing the technique of indoctrinating school children in many school using "values clarification". He drew parallels of what Hitler did when organizing and training Hitler Youth. Basically, you introduce a student into a classroom where the "teacher" encourages the child to express his/her values. After the child has fallen into the trap, the brainwashing begins. The "a$$****" educator plants the idea there are no absolutes - core values are merely "preferences". Faith and principles taught by parents are marginalized Then, the brainwashing begins in earnest, using the youth's natural inclination to rebel against "traditional" values of parents and other authority figures. History is rewritten. The creep-educator continues to introduce ideas that convince the youth to further abandon old ideas and traditions while the new, improved "morally just" ideas (Fairness, anti-hate/anti-Judeo-Christian values, social justice?) are championed Kids are being taught to hate while accusing others as being haters. Right out of Alinsky's handbook. Obviously, the new progressive ideas were always the end goal of the curriculum, but the youth is convinced he/she came to the conclusion on his/her own . Naturally by cranking out students year after year, today's PC student leaves the gov't school conforming with the "progressive" agenda The political party gains strength year after year.

Now, imagine enough students, unemployed and looking for work. And here's the new, improved US gov't offering them a way to obtain a "college education", financed totally by the gov't. All you have to do is join up with the national civilian defense force - become obligated for years to serve as community organizers of whatever persuasion the gov't chooses (health care, voter registration, etc) - become politically active.
This is where multi-culturalism, diversification, sustainability, collaborative learning process and all the other PC code words should tip off the parent who actually cares about this nation. I know we now have to watch our words sooooo carefully on web sites. But, this is nothing short of criminal. And, if you observe the whole basis of redistributition of wealth means a sense of entitlement to what someone else has worked for, and the latest % of non-tax payers in this country is now 47%, the results will be obvious if it continues. This is why I believe this entire bunch are evil. Theft and envy are the basis of the Democratic National Committee's platform. As Lenin said, hatred is the basis for all socialist and communist movements. This current prez is accelerating this process.

So, what's the point? What can be done? All one can do is confront those pushing this agenda, whether it's in the schools or local and state legislatures. Apparently, the federal legislators, or a good share, are beyond reach.

Interesting .... and scary.
About a year ago I read a book titled DEFEATING THE TOTALITARIAN LIE: A Former Hitler Youth Warns America, by Hilmar Von Campe. As the title said, he's a former "Hitler Youth" ("Hitler Jungen" as they were called in German) and the book is basically an autobiographical account of his life in Hitler's Germany and his account of how things went so wrong that Nazism could take over.

Von Campe's book book isn't simple. But, he does come down to one basic idea that he claims was the central, most significant reason that Germany fell into the trap of Nazism.
  • Moral relativism.

I don't know if Dr. Luther is familiar with Von Campe or not. I'm certain other people have pointed out Hitler's technique as well -- and it isn't unique to National Socialism, either. Communists also use the methods Luther & Von Campe list.
Von Campe's book was eye-opening for me. A lot of authors, who are intelligent, and persuasive, and knowledgeable as well, can write good books on what happened in Germany, and point out what happened and why. And probably make good points that deserve being acknowledged. But when someone who's "been there, done that" writes a book, I think it truly deserves special consideration.
It IS frightening what is going on in this country right now. It's difficult for me to get my mind around the idea we may be repeating the steps necessary to get to totalitarianism ... but when you read Von Campe's book, and hear what people like Dr. Luther are discussing, one must open one's eyes!!!

In a similar vein (and I've posted this before, but it might be worth another look):
…it will be useful for you to hear a few excerpts from the first mission statement of Rockefeller's General Education Board as they occur in a document called Occasional Letter Number One (1906):

In our dreams...people yield themselves with perfect docility to our molding hands. The present educational conventions [intellectual and character education] fade from our minds, and unhampered by tradition we work our own good will upon a grateful and responsive folk. We shall not try to make these people or any of their children into philosophers or men of learning or men of science. We have not to raise up from among them authors, educators, poets or men of letters. We shall not search for embryo great artists, painters, musicians, nor lawyers, doctors, preachers, politicians, statesmen, of whom we have ample supply. The task we set before ourselves is very simple...we will organize children...and teach them to do in a perfect way the things their fathers and mothers are doing in an imperfect way.

This mission statement will reward multiple rereadings.
