The engineer obviously sees the washout as you can hear the train go into emergency. I wonder how long it took to clean up the mess.

I'm assuming everything behind the locomotive de-coupled; otherwise I don't believe it would have been possible for him to stop that quickly. Some of those UP and BNSF trains out west are massive.
