What gun?

I'm a federal employee, not allowed to carry during work hours. Based on that fact and some short evaluation periods of three other pistols I settled with a Glock 30. With its Clip-Draw installed it waits for me in the car every afternoon. During the weekends the clip comes off and it goes in a Wild Bill's Undercover holster.

I would like to read from all of you what do you carry. What's your preferred (most used) concealed carry handgun?

Most preferred or most used? Which is it? :)

My most preferred is either a .45 ACP 1911 variant or a Glock 23 (call me schizophrenic if you want, but they both work well for me). My most used are a brace of S&W Centennial .38 Special revolvers.

Under ideal circumstances I'd always carry what I prefer. But my circumstances are typically far from ideal.

Sounds to me like you made a good choice with the G-30. Personally, I would not carry any Glock in other than a good holster without using a Saf-T-Blok behind the trigger safety. I've used one for years when I've put a Glock in a fanny pack, briefcase, etc. With practice it adds practically no time in deploying the pistol. It also gives me piece of mind, and if I was sticking a Glock in my waistband with a Clip Draw I'd really want that extra piece of mind.

Carried mostly...

Thanx LIProgun!

I meant the one you carry most of the time.

I do have the Saf-T-Blok and it's in my G30 100% of the time. The lil' gadget goes flying in no time when pushed and like you sad it gives me peace of mind when stuffing the pistol in my waistband "a la mexicana".

This past weekend at a local gunshow I looked at a one of the new adamantium and kryptonite Smith J-frame 357 (think it was the 360). I think one of those is going to play replacement for the G30 when the Glock is not suitable.

Wonder what our famous writers (Misters Speir, Bane, Petty, et.al) and prominent contributors of the likes of Don Fernando and Gunny Schmit, as well as all others, carry. :?:

Surprise me...

Nemo --

In my right rear pocket I always carry a Kel Tec P-32 with a pocket slipper laser mounted on it.

Depending upon my "mood" or mode of dress, I carry a Sig P239/40 in a Rosen Middleman or a Para Ordnance P10/45 Or C6 Para Carry in a Rosen Rig.

Mike
While I don't mind the grip width of the Para P-14, I still prefer the STI Trojan single stack in .45 ACP.

A Commander size single stack is on my wish list. That would be my ideal carry gun.
Who else?

Mike, even though my freind Marc Cahill is the only guy I know that could maybe conceal a .50 Desert Eagle (6'5" and 350 lbs.) he carries a KelTec 32 and loves it.

Fernando, another good friend from Puerto Rico forever carried a SS Commander until he discovered the STI Viper (or VIP, not sure). He weighted both and the STI with 10+1 was the same weight as the fully loaded Colt.

Have a gun!

(no one)
My choices are unchanged:

My favorite is a Commander size .45 which is currently an Ed Brown Kobra with the bobtail grip. And I always have a S&W 332 in a pocket holster.
Speir carries a nickel-plated, compensated Raven .25 with laser sight, pearl grips, and an extended clip loaded with Cor-Bon +P+ bullets. Though, I hear he's thinking of switching to something in 357 SIG or .45 Long Colt.

[Hey, Dean deserves it. He's TDY in sunny California while I'm here under a foot of new snow. And it's frickin' freezing in here, Mr. Bigglesworth!]

I would have guessed a .40S&W Glock with his own reloads...

Ed
Speaking of which, did you ever hear the one about a formerly famous gunwriter that used .40S&W in his .45ACP?

Needless to say, the rounds didn't chrono very well 8)
Sticking to most often carried, it would be my SiG 230. Small enough to carry in my pocket but big enough for good control and scary accurate.

Most prefered would be a 357Mag wheelgun, either Smith or Dan Wesson.
I'm a recovering hi-cap guy, so it used to be a P226 in Be-Yankee leather. Since undergoing mousegun detox a couple of years back, my preferred carry is a 4" Kimber in a Rosen ARG. I do like the Seecamp sometimes for a quick trip to the Stop N' Rob during the summer months... Of course a knife, light and extra mag are part of the standard loadout.
I doubt if Dean carries it, but I think he is most proud of a very difficult to find Colt Officer's Model, semi automatic, chambered in .45 acp.

After Dean got his first experience in IDPA using his Carry Gun he mentioned, when I was talking to him, that he was going to get full into the sport... he didn't like the "Gamers" showing him up.

He said that he was getting together the gear needed to "Spank em". IIRC the gear was going to revolve around a Jenning 9 Competition gun.

Needless to say, the rounds didn't chrono very well
But how accurate were they?
Dean's Compensated Raven .25... (LMAO)

What?! No flashlight on that Raven? He might be losing the edge! If you definitely made me guess what would be his next gun, I would say GLOCK 37!

Sir Charlie, is your carry gun the one pictured in your ammo article in the latest American Handgunner? Mmmm, nice!

So, .40's out of a .45??? Guess the .40 dies didn't like that brass very much after that!

And it's frickin' freezing in here.
Tell ME about it!!! This is the second day in a row where the high temp is in the mid-60s, damn... we're not expected to break into the 70s until SUNDAY.

Burrrrrrrrrrrr!
Don't be so mean Gunny!

It was actually 30º this morning in JAX! I had to get out my heavy coat!
I don't mind the cold as much as I hate the @%&^% SNOW!!! I could probably go the rest of my life without seeing snow again, and I would not be upset. The worst thing is having a wholesale distribution business that depends upon making deliveries -- I have been screamed at more in the last week than I ever want to be --- seems customers don't understand that when the roads are bad, our trucks don't go! I did not get home tonight until almost 8pm, ran my ATV to plow the snow, and when I came into my office I looked out the window and you can't even see where I had plowed   -- Guess I will be up at 6am and back out plowing again :(
