Folks,
I stopped by the lowest common denominator of marketing to purchase some kitty litter, kitty bribes and a new Alarm Clock...sheesh, not even 15 years old and needs replacement.

And is my wont I stopped in the sporting goods department to ask about Federal 9mm 115gr ball 100 round packs...none available.
I noticed several evil black shotguns in the locked gun case and I picked up an advertising circular.

Lo and behold on page 3E, right column, under the vague title MSRs (On inquiry it means Modern Sporting Rifles) I found DPMS Sportical Rifle $597, Sig Sauer M400 SRP with Prismatic Scope $897 and Colt (R) M4 Rifle $1,097 all in 5.56 NATO/.223 Caliber with 16" barrels.
On the opposite page, 2EW I found a Savage Stevens Model 320 Shotgun 12 gauge, 18.5" barrel, 5+1 Capacity pump action and shown with plastic furniture including a pistol grip for $199.

In the high value case I found Bushnell red dot sights, all three base variants from $99.99 to $179.99.

Are the masters of Wally World trying to tell us something??

Pardon me I have to do the math on the $98 CCI Mini-Mag Long Rifle Ammo Can, 40 grain copper-lated round-nosed bullet 1,600 rounds...

Who notes the TSA has starting giving "FREEZE" commands at random and insisting on obedience even though there are official denials. After spending a 100 million dollars on Anti-Zoombie exercises are the Feds beginning to believe?:dunno:

Seriously speaking, has anyone seen any MSRs or ERBs in their local Wally World?
Mine has not stocked any and the sweet little old lady who runs sporting goods says she cannot explain how Walmart stocks guns, they send what they send and she sells what she can, but cannot see a relation between what sells and what they send.

Who bought a 250 round value pack of 9mm 115 gr. ball at a different WW.. Sigh.

I think you can order a gun from Wal Mart's web site and have it shipped to your local store. At least a friend of mine claims he has done this.

Some other forums I frequent have many commenters on guns at Wally World. The concensus opinion seems to be that only WW's in select markets, and not all the stores in those markets, will stock guns because of the cost and inconvenience of maintaining FFL's for each store.

That having been said, some WW's in the Charlotte suburbs carry the evil black rifles. On a trip last weekend, I checked out a store in the small town of Lancaster, SC. Sure enough, black rifles and tactical shotguns, and fairly knowledgable people behind the counter. I was tempted by the Mossberg 930 (five round, bead sight version), for $499.

Mine now has a 500-round (yes, 500) bulk pack of Federal 149-grain 7.62/.308 for $375. Is that a good deal?

What are 20-round "white boxes" of .308 going for these days?
I haven't bought ammo in a long time. When I'm in a WM, I glance at what's in the locker and prices. IIRC, what I've seen ranged around $15 for cheap to $20+ for primo hunting ammo.

The Other Day...

...I walked into the sporting-goods department at the Show Low (AZ) Wally World (to pick up some cheap LED flashlights) and, on my way back out of the department, spotted a couple of EBR's inside a glass- or plexiglass-enclosed case, alongside some black-stocked shotguns.

This is a big area for elk hunting but plenty of folks are also into tacticool guns as well.

It's Unclear...

At W-M: Cheap ZQ1 ammo is $17.97/20. Winchester 'PDX1 Defense's is $37.97/20!
...to which caliber you are referring but I just did a quick online search for 9mm PDX1 and found two vendors offering it, respectively, at $21.95 and $24.99 per 20-round box. I assume that a shipping charge is added to that.

The same search site turned up five vendors of the .45 ACP PDX1, ranging from $23.49 to $29.99 per 20-round box.

to All,

Our local WM stores (at least last week) had Winchester 115 grain FMJ in 9mm Parabellum for 26.65 per 100 plus tax.
(FIVE box maximum per customer.)

I bought some for my CCW re-qualification & it worked fine.

yours, sw

Personally...

what are the best online ammo places?
...when I'm looking for case quantities, I start by checking AmmoMan.com. If he doesn't have it in stock or I'm not prepared to purchase an entire case, I search at AmmoSeek.com. A similar search site is AmmoGuide.com but I've never actually used it. Ammunition to Go usually offers competitive prices on CorBon ammo, when they've got the load I want in stock. In the case of smaller companies, such as Buffalo Bore, it may be worth checking directly as they may offer a special, such as free shipping for a minimum quantity.
