Some time ago Gene Barnett told me that he'd make me a barrel in stainless if I wanted, and in an alternate twist. I'd pick 1:11 in his full heavy contour. I think he said that he'd turn a barrel off of any blanks, pretty much, from what I remember. I like the value and quality of his barrels, but I do prefer stainless. Has anyone ever taken him up on something like this. I'm going to need a new barrel soon and would like to try one of his barrels as compared to the Krieger I bought the last time. This would be my first Barnett Barrel.

GG,
Nothing recent . But a while back I had a Barnett chambered 4 groove 1 in 10 to shoot the 173 M118 we were getting and Special Ball that was still issued in some of the Leg matches. It worked very well.
When we got the 170 Lapuas , Hook talked me into trying a Barnett 6 groove 1 in 11. I shot consistant high scores at 300RF and 600SF with that rifle and load. They were Douglas CM as I never had a desire for stainless rifle barrels. The Scout I just finished has a SAI 6 groove 1 in 11 and it shoots the 170 Lapuas and the "new" M118 175 SMKs very nicely.

I recommend you contact as soon as possible. I called him end Dec 07 looking for a standard heavy barrel 1:10 and it was not until April that he had filled sufficient orders and had that barrel available.

The guy is very busy making barrels. If you want something special, you better give him a decent lead time.

When the barrel was complete, I sent everything to Ronnie Morris and this is the new match rifle that resulted. Totally matched out, and all GI parts except for stock and receiver, and sight slide aperture.
